On
Saturday June 21st, about 3p.m., Steve
Mozena spoke by telephone to Actor
Extraordinaire Mike Farrell, best known for
his role as Dr. B. J. Honnicut in the hit TV
series "Mash." Farrell is also a political activist
who was recently on Fox's "The Factor," with
Bill O'Reilly, where he showed his willingness
to engage in debate with one of TV's more combative
hosts.
Mike had called
Mr. Mozena to ask for his support
regarding the merger of the Screen Actors' Guild
with the American Federation of Television and
Radio Artists (AFTRA). Mr. Mozena
has been a member of both organizations for
more than 10 years.
Mozena
and Farrell discussed a number of subjects,
including the likelihood that Governor Gray
Davis would be recalled. See http://www.davisrecall.com
If this were
to happen, it looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger
would run as a Republican and win. And if Magic
Johnson runs for mayor of Los Angeles and wins
(he has a long record of service to the community
and is said to be contemplating a run), California
would be run by celebrities. Mike Farrell quipped
that it would be just like when former President
Ronald Reagan and former film actor George Murphy
were politicians for California.
Also, Mozena
mentioned that several years ago he had been
a dark horse candidate for mayor of Los Angeles.

Finally, Mr.
Mozena spoke about his "Post
the Finances" crusade, Mr. Farrell
was intrigued and said he would look over the
site. Mr. Mozena expressed
the hope that when signature gathering begins,
Mr. Farrell might mention it his high-profile
celebrity friends as well as endorse the initiative
himself.
Mozena
had particularly in mind Ed Asner, Emmy award-winning
actor who is best known for his portrayal of
the character of Mary Tyler Moore's boss Lou
Grant in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and in the
spin-off series Lou Grant (http://www.who2.com/edasner.html).
Asner is also a celebrity activist. He has always
been supportive of Mozena as
an actor and a politician. Even when Mozena
was facing defeat in his bid to become mayor
of Los Angeles, Ed Asner continued to encourage
him to stay in there, swinging. Mozena
expressed the wish to Mr. Farrell that the three
of them might get together for lunch to discuss
"Post the Finances"
in more detail. The momentum of the "Post
the Finances" for the State
of California continues.
