"Is
there a Santa Claus?" asks Steve
Mozena, proponent of this initiative
to post all the California state government
finances to the Web.
"I believe there is," he says, "and
we need him or her. Before the end of
December, Post
the Finances needs the
funds to make this initiative a reality.
This is our million dollar campaign."
Mozena is optimistic
because he believes there is not just
one Santa Claus out there, but hundreds,
perhaps thousands. They may not all
have red suits and reindeer, but they
have goodwill and the desire to share
in this holiday season.
Are
you one of these unknown Santa Claus?
"I
can't think of a better Christmas
present for California," Mozena
says. "Donating to Post
the Finances is like
dropping a gift on your neighbor's
doorstep. It will help all Californians."
Mozena points out
that the need is urgent, and the time
is now. It's the season for giving.
He remembers the little girl played
by Natalie Wood in "Miracle on 34th
Street," who kept saying to her skeptical
mother, "I believe, I believe." And
of course she was rewarded for her
belief in Santa Claus.
Mozena says that
he believes too. Not
in an old man with a beard and a big
sack, but in the spirit and generosity
of Californians and all Americans.
"We are an amazingly generous people,"
he says. "When we see a need, we do
everything we can to meet it. And
I believe that people will now see
the enormous value of posting the
finances. But it can't happen without
everyone's help."
Please
contribute now to make Post
the Finances a reality.
It's a Christmas gift for fiscal honesty
in government.
